Five years ago, on January 1st, I unlocked the door to Unbranded Austin for the first time — a laser tattoo removal Austin practice built around restraint and long-term results.
There was no ribbon cutting. No investors. No ad campaign. No grand opening buzz. Just me, a laser, a small room, and a very clear idea of what I didn’t want to build.
- I didn’t want a clinic that upsold people.
- I didn’t want a conveyor belt of technicians.
- I didn’t want scripts, pressure tactics, or promises that ignored how skin actually heals.
I wanted a place where tattoo removal was approached with restraint — where biology mattered more than marketing, and honesty mattered more than volume.
That idea has now made it five years.

Unbranded Austin didn’t grow fast. It grew deliberately.
From the beginning, I made choices that don’t look great on a spreadsheet:

Spending as much time explaining limitations as possibilities
That approach doesn’t scale well.
It does, however, protect outcomes.
Over five years, I’ve performed thousands of tattoo removal sessions — and resisted the urge to sell many more. That restraint is the work.

Why I Still Do Every Treatment Myself
I still operate the laser. Every session.
I still review intake forms personally.

I’ve built this business around that reality.
Five Years In
The equipment has changed.
My understanding of ink, skin, and immune response has deepened.
The protocols are better, more refined, and more cautious than they were in 2021.
What hasn’t changed is the philosophy:
I work for the long outcome — not the next appointment.
If that means fewer sessions, so be it.
If that means telling someone no, I’m comfortable with that.
If that means growing slower than the industry norm, I can live with it.
Because the alternative is building a business that ignores biology. And I won’t do that.
