Pigmented lesions are an extremely common skin blemish that’s caused by excess melanin in the skin. Pigmented lesions often appear with age or are a result of excessive sun exposure. Pigmented lesions can appear on all body parts but are most commonly found on the face, neck, and hands. While most pigmented lesions are benign, some can be early indications of skin cancer. UNBRANDED Austin recommends all clients have their spots checked by a dermatologist or physician before seeking laser treatment.
How does pigmented lesion removal work?
During a laser treatment, our Astanza Duality laser emits light energy onto the unwanted pigmented lesion. The excess melanocyte cells absorb the light energy and shatter. After treatment, your immune system flushes away the dead skin cells and reveals clear, unblemished skin.
The weeks following treatment, a scab may begin to form in the treated area. Once the scab heals and flakes off naturally, your skin will appear lighter and less pigmented. For the best results, please do not interfere with the scab’s healing process. Picking the scab can lead to infection and unwanted side effects.
How many treatments will I need?
Most clients see significant fading and complete removal after 1 to 2 treatments.
Does the laser hurt?
The treatment is very tolerable and quick. Most clients compare the laser to a rubber band snapping against the skin. UNBRANDED Austin uses the Zimmer Cryo cooling machine to alleviate any discomfort associated with the laser.
